I have a WordPress site with Facebook and Google+ share buttons. The problem is that share dialogs are showing different url than where the share dialog actually directs. So on share dialog there is ‘uglyurl.fi’ but the link still directs to ‘prettyurl.fi’.
The source code has following:
<link rel='canonical' href='http://prettyurl.fi' /> <meta property="og:url" content="http://prettyurl.fi" />
Why the share dialog still show something completely different? Is there a way to force share dialogs to show something else instead of ‘uglyurl.fi’?
I’ve been looking answer from .htaccess, am I looking at the wrong place?
The problem also is that the servers virtual hosts are set so that the page is at uglyurl.fi and then rewrite rule apparently directs to prettyurl.fi, but I don’t know for sure, because I don’t have permissions to access config files.
