Is there any way to set the default page template for posts to display as a subpage?

Currently I have posts, and when you click read more or whatever, it will load the default index template.

What I want to do is load them in a specific template that would be a childpage. I have a sub-navigation that is built out of other child pages that I need to include on the post page as well.

The sub-navigation isn’t a menu, but is created based on the parent page’s children.
