I’ve just tried to commit my first ever plugin to the WordPress repository, but… nothing is happening. The plugin isn’t appearing, and instead I just see the message:
This plugin is approved and awaiting data upload but not visible to the public yet. Once you make your first commit, the plugin will become public.
However, I made my first commit several hours ago, and still nothing has appeared. I’m on Windows using TortoiseSVN, and I’ve followed at least a dozen guides to make sure I’ve not missed anything; double- and triple-checked my
readme.txt file (including my listed stable version, the version in my plugin and and directory name in
/tags/ all match; checked the plugin; made a couple of minor edits in
/tags/0.1 and committed them with no errors; checked the actual SVN URL and all of my files are in place; I’ve had automatic emails from WordPress about my commits; but still nothing in the actual Plugin Directory.
I’ve read that in the past it could take anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours for
readme.txt updates to show up, but that by now it’s virtually instantaneous, but I’m well past that point and at a loss as to what else to do.
At the top of my plugin’s page (which only I can see), it also says:
This plugin hasn't been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.
I have no idea where it’s getting that information from. It also says the plugin was last updated 2019 years ago. I’m guessing this is just because it doesn’t think there’s a commit in place?
I’ve also run my
readme.txt file through the readme validator half a dozen times. The only thing it ever says is:
No == Upgrade Notice == section was found
No == Screenshots == section was found
…but these are
Notes, not errors, and since my plugin doesn’t require screenshots or an upgrade notice, I figure these aren’t what’s causing it not to show up. But I have no idea why it’s not appearing.
