I have a WordPress subdirectory network with multiple sites. I’m finally to the point of giving the subdirectory sites their own domains.
I added a new domain to cpanel as an Add-on Domain and pointed it to public_html where my WPMU installation resides. Auto-SSL created a letsencrypt certificate for the new domain automatically.
I updated the Site Address (URL) setting to reflect the new domain.
Entering the add-on domain without protocol (domain2.com) into a web browser redirects back to the main domain (domain1.com).
Entering the add-on domain with unsecured protocol (http://domain2.com) into a web browser redirects back to the main domain (domain1.com).
Entering the add-on domain WITH secure protocol (https://domain2.com) directs to the proper site.
Jumping around between sites within wp-admin works as expected. It is only when entering the domain without protocol that the issue seems to appear.
I double-checked my htaccess and config files to match what WordPress says to use in Network Settings.
Any ideas? I’m at a loss on this one…
