I had just gotten a new junior dev job in which my boss is insisting that img styling account for any type of image that a client might upload in wordpress. I’ve always thought that image handling should occur on the back end and that wordpress keeps different image sizes of the same image for this very reason.

Anyways, he basically wants each image placed in a div, hidden, and then made into the background of the containing div so that it can be styled to cover the div. A front end version of cropping and zoom I guess. Is this a good practice or is there something else I should look into?
