Why have my homepage images been replaced by barebones gradients?

https://cjshayward.com has a tweaked twentyseventeen child theme and last I checked had nontrivial background images behind the sections of the homepage.

Now it has very dull silver and white gradients.

I do not recall anything like this happening before.

I tried to trace things down, and directly loaded https://cjshayward.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/2017-12.jpg (directly pulled from Chrome’s inspector). It loaded fine.

I reloaded the page, and it flashed the background image in its place, then quickly overrode the background with the silver and white gradient.

I looked briefly at Chrome’s console, and did not see messages that would explain the switch, or errors that would seem to follow the hiccup.

(The initial movie displays fine, and part of one of the following images also displays, but that’s it for correct display.)

Thanks,
