WordPress plugin class-core.php: Syntax error, unexpected T_STRING

I am a complete newbie to PHP, and can’t do anything besides Google-troubleshooting, so I can’t make heads or tails of this error. I simply changed one input type (WordPress plugin > class-core.php) from number to text and touched nothing else.

It is throwing the error:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/site.com/wp-content/plugins/x-plugin/includes/class-core.php on line 1

I have removed name of site and plugin in case I get flagged for promoting something.

As I said, I’ve touched nothing else, and I have searched for an answer and none of them have worked so far. What could be the issue?
